Popcorn ceiling texture removal process Homeowner responsible for: 1. Remove any loose items such as knickknacks from off of table tops and shelves in work areas. 2. Remove any loose items which are within 8 inches of the ceiling. Heavy and sturdy items may stay. 3. Provide clear pathways throughout the areas in which the texture removal and repair process will take place. Place all loose items such as trash cans, kids toys, laundry and decorative items against a wall in a room which will not be worked in.
DO NOT MOVE ANY FURNITURE. OUR CREWS WILL MOVE HEAVY/BULKY ITEMS AS NEEDED. Associated Finishes responsible for steps listed below:
STEP ONE. Prepare rooms
1. Mask of any ceiling fixtures and vents. 2. Cover all furniture, floors and walls.
STEP TWO. Removal Phase
1. Lightly mist with water all areas covered in acoustic (popcorn). 2. Carefully remove the acoustic (popcorn) from the ceiling with scraping knife.
STEP THREE. Repair Phase
1. Repair minor imperfections 2. Skim all joints and nails/screws.
STEP FOUR. Texturing (Finishing) Phase
1. Apply texture to match walls or a texture of homeowner preference. Available finishes are: knockdown, orange peel, skip trowel and semi-smooth Santa Fe.
STEP FIVE. Prime Phase*
1. Apply primer to seal the ceiling before paint is applied.
*If customer prefers to paint themselves, this step will be skipped.
STEP SIX. Paint Phase*
1. Apply homeowner's preference of paint color, Normally one or two coats.
*If customer prefers to paint themselves, this step will be skipped.
STEP SEVEN. Clean Up Phase
1. Remove protective plastic and debris.
